Dr. Suman Challa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He is in the preventive and public health dentistry division of the department of community dentistry.

Dr. Challa graduated from dental school in 2000 from the Manipal University. He received his Masters in Science of Public Health (Concentration in Health Policy and Management) at the School of Rural Public Health, Texas A&M University in College Station. He further received training in Dental Public Health, at UTHSCSA-Dental School, after completing the residency he further went on to do a fellowship in Dental Public Health. Dr. Challa is a member of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry and the Hispanic Dental Association. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health.

Dr. Challa’s research interests include Oral Health in Elderly, Obesity and Oral health, Use of secondary analysis of data in dentistry, Oral health related Quality of Life, undernutrition and its impact on oral health.
