Biographical Sketch
Dr. Dang is currently a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Community Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He received his PhD at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver from the Department of Microbiology. Dr. Dang continued his research in autoimmune rheumatic diseases at UTHSCSA as postdoctoral fellow under the direction of Norma Talal, MD. His research has been focused on the pathogenesis of Sjogren’s syndrome and salivary gland dysfunction. His work studies cell lines, animal models and human samples to get to the root of salivary gland pathophysiology. He has published >70 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, reviews and book chapters. In the laboratory, he has trained several national and international students to pursue careers in academic research. Dr. Dang has received research funding from NIH and private foundations. He has sat as a member of several NIH study sections, provided his expertise as a reviewer for several scientific journals and is a member of the American Association of Immunologists.
