School of Dentistry

Academics

During the three year undergraduate portion of DEAP, students will:

• Complete a special three-year curriculum designed by the undergraduate institution.

• Take the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) by November 1.

• Submit a formal application to the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service before October 1 of the third year.

As the student completes required courses in dental school, credit for designated courses will be applied to undergraduate degree requirements as well. Generally, the bachelor’s degree is awarded by the undergraduate institution when the student has completed the first or second year of dental studies.

The Doctor of Dental Surgery degree is awarded upon successful completion of the four-year dental curriculum.
