International Dentist Education Program (IDEP) Academics Information
The IDEP offers qualified graduates of foreign dental programs the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Health Science Center, in two years. The training you will receive will allow you to take the state or regional board examinations and be eligible for dental licensure and dental Practice in the United States. The program starts with an 8-10 week interactive online course followed by a 10-14 week hands-on training on campus. Students are then integrated in the traditional D.D.S. program at the UT Health Science Center Dental School.
Primary objectives of this program include:
- Learning how to conduct patient care within General Practice Group clinics
- Customized, hands-on matriculation
- Become eligible for dental licensure and dental practice within the United States after taking state and regional board examinations
The academic path that students will follow during the course of this program includes online training as well as didactic and preclinical laboratory training.
