Mission

The UTHSCSA Academic Center for Excellence in Teaching provides leadership, direction, and resources to advance excellence in teaching.
 

Functions
  1. Promote intellectually rigorous teaching practices, integrity and scholarship in health professions education.
     
  2. Encourage interdisciplinary dialogues about teaching and learning, removing internal barriers to interprofessional education and promoting collegiality in the academic community.
     
  3. Increase understanding of the teaching-learning process in order to promote evidence-based teaching practices.
     
  4. Enhance the organizational culture of teaching excellence in the HSC, advocating teaching as an essential value of the UTHSCSA, and recognizing and rewarding those who demonstrate excellence in teaching.
     
  5. Define and implementing institutional structures that support teaching and learning excellence.
     
  6. Create a positive and professional teaching and learning environment.
     
  7. Collect, develop and disseminate resources that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
