UTHSCSA Teaching Excellence Course (UTEC)
This 36 hour professional development program is a long-standing tradition at UTHSCSA. More than 700 faculty from all schools on campus have completed UTEC since its inception in 1976. Schedule: UTEC is typically conducted one evening per week from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm beginning in early September and continuing through the first or second week in December. Format: UTEC is conducted in workshop format to encourage exchange of perspectives about educational issues, allow participants to practice several types of teaching and acquire experience with important teacher tasks such as evaluating student performance, presenting lectures, planning courses, teaching psychomotor skills, intervening with students who are challenging (difficult) and developing web-based courses. Enrollment: Due to the workshop format, hands-on learning and practice teaching opportunities, UTEC enrollment is limited to approximately 30 participants. Registrations are accepted on a first submitted-first enrolled basis. Click here for 2005 graduates. Registration: There is no fee for UTHSCSA faculty to participate in UTEC. The course is open to all UTHSCSA faculty. To enroll, please contact Ray Howard, UTEC Director, by phone at 7-2813 or by e-mail at howardr3@uthscsa.edu. 2007 UTEC – August 22 – November 14 (4:00-6:00pm) Wednesdays
