ACET Quality Enhancement Plan Grant
Request for Applications UTHSCSA is undergoing its 10 year accreditation review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The SACS Accreditation process requires the University to increase the effectiveness of student learning in one of its educational programs through a comprehensive Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The purpose of QEP is to encourage creative, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences for students. QEP proposals must be aligned with one or more elements of the UTHSCSA Strategic Plan: 1. Interdisciplinary education To be successful, a QEP proposal must be part of an existing or future accredited academic curriculum at UTHSCSA. The project proposal should use a five-year time frame and can address the expansion of an existing educational program, or the design and implementation of a new educational program. As noted in the application instructions, the proposal should fully describe the financial, physical, and human resources necessary to develop, implement, and sustain the planned program for five years. Financial support of up to $100,000 in UTHSCSA funds over two to five years is available. Proposals will be critiqued by the Academic Center for Excellence in Teaching (ACET) Steering Council with representatives from all five schools using an NIH Study Section review model. One project will be selected by the review panel and recommended for funding. If you have questions or need additional information about this program, please contact Dr. John Littlefield (7-2283 or littlefield@uthscsa.edu). A one page pre-proposal is due October 2, 2006. Applications will be accepted until December 4, 2006 and awards will be announced on January 29, 2007 Click on the documents below for more a more detailed QEP Program Description or the QEP Application.
