Biomedical and Laboratory Equipment Repair offers quality service to
repair and service laboratory equipment. We can
respond to our customers' needs on campus or off campus.
- Biomedical Laboratory Equipment - Repair and maintain
laboratory equipment, such as pH meters,
spectrophotometers, centrifuges, power supplies, patient monitors,
defibrillators, incubators,
water baths, shakers, etc. (See Equipment
List)
- Refrigeration equipment - Small refrigeration equipment and ultra-low freezers are repaired
(e.g. recharge units with coolant, repair and/or replace compressors, clean and calibrate
according to manufacturer's specification). Costs are substantially less than external service
agencies. Two 'loaner' ultra-low refrigeration units are available for emergency use.
- Inspections, Calibrations & Certification - Inspect, calibrate and certify most
laboratory equipment including
balances, incubators and microscopes. Inspect equipment required to
meet the College of
American Pathologists' (CAPs) compliance review. "Electrical safety" test laboratory
equipment to detect existing hazardous conditions that could cause injury to the
user, and/or damage to the equipment.
- Field Service Support - Provide off-campus service support for laboratory equipment
at Allied Health, Ashford Oaks, Bluff Creek, IBT, IDD West, McDermott
Building, START Center, STBCM, and UTSA.
- Preventive Maintenance - Provide preventive maintenance services for
most laboratory equipment.
Preventive maintenance for researchers who lack the
desire or expertise to perform routine maintenance functions, but want
to assure equipment performance standards, and protect against equipment failures and downtime
frequently use this service.
