Research Support offers assistance to faculty, staff and students in the areas of:

A. Statistics

  1. Statistical consulting and programming, including:
    • Experimental design
    • Sample size estimation (Power analysis)
    • Technical support for SAS, SPSS, and Stata
  2. Writing statistical results for publications and/or responding to reviewer comments on statistical methods.
  3. Statistical sections for grant applications.

B. Data collection protocols and database design

  1. Database platforms, including:
    • Oracle
    • Access
    • MySQL
    • Informix
    • FileMaker Pro
    • Others
  2. Web-based data collection
  3. ASP
  4. PHP and other languages

Provides database programming support for faculty, residents, and students. Her expertise is in database design and programming. Database experience includes Oracle, Informix, MySQL, MS Access, Filemaker and many others. In addition, she can provide programming in various languages and create web-based applications. She earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business with Management Information Systems from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

Provides statistical consulting and programming for faculty, residents, and students conducting research. He is also the primary technical support representative for SAS and SPSS statistical software at the Health Science Center. He earned a MS in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Systems Design with a specialty in Statistics from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Provides statistical consulting and database programming support for faculty, residents, and students. His professional interests include population research and spatial analysis, particularly the application of geographic information systems (GIS) analysis to health data. He earned a Masters degree in Public Health from The University of Texas at Houston Health Science Center.
