Program for Research Scientists in the Biology of Aging
Olivia Pereira-Smith, PhD, Professor and Program Director
The Biology of Aging Program embodies the departments of
Physiology, Cellular and Structural Biology, Pathology, and Pharmacology.
It provides stipends and training for pre- and postdoctoral fellows
interested in basic research that holds promise for practical application
towards lifespan intervention.
Fellowships in Geriatric Medicine and Dentistry
Laura Chiodo, PhD, Associate Professor and Program Director
The education and training of future specialists in geriatric medicine is a key
mission of the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology at The University of
Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The genetic medicine program spans two years,
and offers an optional year for additional research.

The clinical core curriculum includes participation in both community-based and VA-based continuity clinics, an outpatient evaluation unit, a geriatric consultation service, on-site and community-based nursing home, home care, and hospice programs.
