Other Academic Institutions in San Antonio

San Antonio has several undergraduate and graduate institutions of higher education. The University of Texas at San Antonio is an undergraduate arm of The University of Texas System (whose main campus is found 70 miles north in Austin).

Other fine academic institutions in San Antonio include Trinity University, St. Mary's University, Our Lady of the Lake University and the University of the Incarnate Word. Texas A&M University at San Antonio is expected to open in the fall of 2009.

The Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research and the Southwest Research Institute, although not directly affiliated with the university system, provide many benefits in the form of additional sources of research expertise and off-campus, cross-appointed faculty.
