Health Professional Continuing Education
The South Texas AHEC Program is committed to shaping a workforce that is respectful and responsive to needs of South Texas Border populations. Our educational and training programs are designed to promote diversity in the healthcare workforce by collaborating with experts to provide interdisciplinary training, continuing education, and cultural competency training to health professions students, faculty, and clinical providers.
We ensure the quality of our health education and training programs by developing specific opportunities aimed to effectively prepare students, faculty and clinicians to provide health care services in primarily underserved and highly impoverished areas.
Teaching objectives aim to broaden the understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by many South Texas residents and our educational and training programs teach best practices in culturally and linguistically appropriate service delivery.
