Responsible for participating in the policy development, implementation and administration of the Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Program with general direction and specific delegation from the President of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Reports to the President with liaison responsibilities to the Executive Vice President for Business Affairs, Executive Vice President for Administration, Vice President for Academic Administration, Senior Legal Officer for Legal Affairs, Assistant Vice President for Institutional Compliance and Assistant Vice President for Human Resources.
I. Insures the development of Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs for the Health Science Center.
- A. Participates in development of policy statements concerning the disabled workers, veterans, minorities and women.
B. Participates in development of internal and external communications techniques pertaining to Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Program policies and procedures.
C. Advises administration concerning the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal audit and reporting systems.
D. Ensures that the institution's Affirmative Action Programs and Equal Employment Opportunity policies meet all regulatory laws and guidelines.
E. Assists management in arriving at solutions to problems.
F. Participates in the development of goals and timetables and assists department managers with efforts to achieve the established goals.
G. Serves as liaison between The University and Federal Enforcement agencies, and outside organizations concerned with employment opportunities of minorities and women.
H. Serves as liaison between The University and organizations of and for disabled individuals and Vietnam Era/Disabled Veterans.
I. Keeps administration informed of the current and updated developments in Affirmative Action areas.
J. Participates in the development of training programs concerning Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Disabled Awareness for the Health Science Center.
K. Assists in counseling and advising to all individuals, including Women, Minorities, Disabled Individuals and Vietnam Era/Disabled Veterans within the Health Science Center concerning Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity.
L. Insures that everyone is afforded equal opportunity and freedom from all forms of discrimination.
II. Other Responsibilities
- A. Serves as the Institutional Employee Advisor for the Heath Science Center.
B. Serves as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator for the Health Science Center. Serves as Chair of the ADA Coordinating Committee. Has general oversight and responsibility for all ADA issues including the education programs.
C. Has general oversight and responsibility for all issues dealing with Sexual Harassment including the Health Science Center education program. (See Chapter 4, Section 4.2, Policy 4.2.2.)
D. Has general oversight and responsibility for Non-Discrimination Policy and Compliant Procedure. (See Chapter 4, Section 4.2, Policy 4.2.1.)
E. Monitors recruitment procedures for faculty and postdoctoral recruitment. Serves as ex officio member of all major search committees.
F. Maintains equal employment opportunity affirmative action records and support documentation for faculty and Executive Committee recruitment.
