Course Descriptions
Each
EMT course is taught by EHS Department faculty. The certification
program includes classroom instruction, skills practice laboratories,
and clinical rotations which offer the student the opportunity
to apply their skills techniques in closely supervised patient
care settings. Following successful completion of classroom
and clinical instructions, students will be promoted to field
internship
where they will work as a team with other Paramedics to provide
pre-hospital life support to the ill or injured.
EMT-B students will enroll in the following 2 courses:
EMSP 1401: EMT-Basic
5 hours credit
Introduction to the level of EMT Basic. Includes all the skills
necessary to provide emergency medical care at the basic life
support level with an ambulance service or other specialized
service.
EMSP 1160: EMT-Basic Clinical
1.0 hour credit
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables
the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills,
and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical
professional.
