Support Our Mission
Thank you for your interest in supporting the Department of Ophthalmology. The Department is appreciative of financial support for its endeavors. Two specific campaigns are underway at the present time:
- The Dr. J. Alexander and Dr. Wichard A. J. van Heuven Endowed Professorship in Ophthalmology. A permanent endowment is being established at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to honor Dr. Wichard A. J. van Heuven for his 25 years of leadership, excellence and dedication to patient care, education and research in Ophthalmology.
In respect and acknowledgement of his father's role in his career, at Dr. van Heuven's request, the endowed professorship will be named for Dr. J. Alexander van Heuven and Dr. Wichard A. J. van Heuven. Dr. J. Alexander van Heuven was also an academic ophthalmologist--first as a professorat the famous Donder's Eye Institute in Utrecht, Netherlands and later as a Clinical Professor at Yale University.
- Ophthalmology Alumni Resident Education Endowment An endowment established to support our residency programs and educational opportunities at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and/or the Residency Program Director.
