Comprehensive Ophthalmologist/Medical Director (UTMEC)
The Ophthalmology Department of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader to serve as the Medical Director for the institution's newest ophthalmology clinic. This clinic will be located in the facility which will be the private practice site for our 500+ faculty multispecialty group.
The candidate must be an experienced, board certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist (though subspecialists will be considered) with outstanding clinical and surgical abilities. The candidate must possess a track record of excellence in managing a busy practice, and demonstrate superior interpersonal skills. The Medical Director, assisted by the clinic manager, will supervise all activities of the clinic-faculty schedules, patient flow, billing, budgets, etc. In addition to having his or her own comprehensive ophthalmology practice, the Medical Director will also take consultations from the faculty practice and make appropriate dispositions of these consults. The candidate must have an interest in working with residents and medical students, as well as in supporting clinical research.
This is a full-time faculty position and academic rank will be commensurate with credentials. Applicants must possess a Texas medical license or become licensed in Texas. Salary is competitive and there is a generous benefit package.
