COMPREHENSIVE OPHTHALMOLOGIST/ DIRECTOR of RESIDENT CLINIC
The Ophthalmology Department of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is seeking a dynamic, effective teacher and clinician to serve as the Director of our Ophthalmology Resident Clinic at the University Center for Community Health (UCCH) Eye Clinic. The candidate must be an experienced, board certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist (though subspecialists will be considered) with outstanding clinical and surgical abilities. The candidate must possess a desire to teach and mentor residents and demonstrate superior interpersonal skills. The Resident Clinic Director will supervise up to three residents per clinic session in a comprehensive ophthalmology practice; surgical responsibilities entail weekly staffing of second and third-year resident cases in anterior segment procedures. The resident director takes an active role in resident education and participates in various scholarly activities.
It is preferred that candidates have an interest in encouraging and supporting resident clinical research projects. This is a full-time faculty position and academic rank will be commensurate with credentials. Applicants must possess a Texas medical license or become licensed in Texas. Salary is competitive and there is a generous benefit package.
