Ophthalmology Hospitalist
The Ophthalmology Department of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is seeking a full-time ophthalmologist with a serious interest in resident education for a unique position as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, although interested subspecialists will be considered. This physician should be board certified or eligible and be well versed in anterior segment diseases and have excellent clinical and surgical abilities. The position will supervise ophthalmology residents in the care of emergency and urgent ocular conditions referred from our institution’s emergency center, and from the inpatient services of our teaching hospital partner. In addition, the position would triage walk-in consults and make appropriate dispositions. This physician will also oversee the care of ophthalmology inpatients. It is expected that there will be time available to maintain an outpatient clinic schedule at our University Eye Consultants clinic (University Hospital in the Medical Center area of San Antonio) and a regular surgical schedule. This is a full-time position and evening and weekend/holiday call is taken in rotation with other ophthalmology faculty (approximately one week per quarter). Academic rank will be commensurate with credentials. Applicants must possess a Texas medical license or become licensed in Texas. Salary is competitive and there is a generous benefit package.
