Employee of the Quarter
Facilities Management has a very active Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year program aimed to recognize those special individuals that go above and beyond what is expected of them. They represent the very best of the Health Science Center.
As a member of the Work Control Center in the Business Operations division of Facilities Management, Sophia has been an employee with the UT Health Science Center for over seven years. In that time, Sophia has been highly motivated, reliable, and dependable.
This quarter, Sophia demonstrated her dedication and leadership skills when asked to assist anytime her manager is away from the office. Sophia is always willing to help others and has a positive attitude. Additionally, Sophia works diligently to close work orders on a timely basis so our billing department may charge various departments for construction and remodeling performed by FM.
Sophia has been a volunteer to help with the Christmas Committee for the past three years and has also served as a coordinator for the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC).
Sophia is an extremely valuable part of our team and is well deserving of this award.
As a Senior Sheet Metal Worker, Rey has been with Facilities Management for just over 22 years. In that time, Rey has provided skilled craftsmanship on many of the department's most complex and visible projects.
This quarter, Rey demonstrated his resolve to support the institutional mission by taking the lead on several projects that were both time-sensitive and required work to be completed during off hours to avoid disrupting academic schedules.
Co-workers who nominated Rey state that he is always willing to help others and that he often works overtime with little or no notice when required to get the job done. Rey is known to be highly knowledgeable in his field, and he serves as a mentor to other sheet metal workers. He often suggests process changes that allow projects to run smoother and cost-effective.
Rey is an extremely valuable part of our team and is well deserving of this award.
