Donnie Schimcek Awarded Second Annual
Employee of the Year Honors

At last year's Facilities Management Christmas party, Donnie Schimcek, a 9-year Mason with the HSC, was presented the Employee of the Year award for 2007. This is the second time Facilities Management has presented the award. A committee made up of peers and supervisors from the different divisions that make up the department made the selection out of the eight individuals who were previously selected for Employee of the Quarter.

Donnie Schimcek Receives Employee of the Year Award for 2007
    Excellence set into stone
Darrell Maatsch, Assistant Vice President for Campus Operations and Facilities,     presents Donnie Schimcek the Employee of the Year award.

The following is a narrative written by Gary Tate, Assistant Director for Business Services and manager of the Employee of the Quarter and Year Awards program:

Donnie Schimcek is an outstanding example of an employee with a deep commitment to excellence. He has been employed as a Mason with Facilities Management since April 1999. He is very knowledgeable of the mason trade and displays excellent leadership qualities. Donnie was deeply involved in the construction of the large limestone planter bed in front of the Academic and Administration Building which greatly enhanced the appearance of this area. He often works after hours and during weekends to do jobs that might negatively affect students, faculty, or staff if done during regular working hours. Donnie and the other masons have recently been working to create a safer campus by installing new sidewalks and repairing those damaged. Donnie is a highly dependable and professional employee who has become a key asset in providing quality workmanship to Health Science Center. He clearly deserves to be honored as the Facilities Management Employee of the year for 2007. «»
