EMPLOYEES OF THE QUARTER

Although Facilities Management has many dedicated hardworking employees, the following employees were selected as FM Employees of the Quarter for the Second Quarter of 2008. They represent the very best of the HSC. We are fortunate and grateful to have employees such as these.

Fernando Terrazas has been an important part of the Facilities Management Custodial Services Division since April 1975. He started working as a Building Attendant I and has worked his way up to an area Supervisor as a result of his excellent performance.

Fernando is a loyal, hard working, efficient and dedicated employee who strives for the best at all times. He is readily available for any challenge that comes his way and lives up to the highest standards possible. Fernando has demonstrated exceptional attendance throughout his tenure with the Custodial Services Division.

Fernando has played a key role in the development and implementation of Custodial Services’ training program and implementing internal guidelines. Fernando is a true asset to this department and we are proud to have him on our team.

Daniel Salinas is a very valuable member of the Facilities Management Utilities Division. Dan started at the Health Science Center as a Gardener in 1991. Later, he transferred to Custodial Services to become a Custodian and finally was hired by Utilities as a Maintenance Worker in October 2001. In February 2005, Dan was promoted to an Operator I.

Dan follows directions well, works well with others, and demonstrates the initiative to work on his own, especially during shift work. He is very dependable and has used almost no sick leave in his 16 years as an HSC employee. His attendance record is highly commendable.

Dan represents the type of employee in Utilities who we desire to retain and continue to develop over the years. Dan is considered a tremendous asset to the Control Room and the Utilities Division.
