Research Interests:

Basic: Evaluation of the role of thrombin receptors in the initiation and maintenance of neoinitial hyperplasia. Evaluation includes in vitro analysis using cultured human smooth muscle cell as well as in-situ from human atheroma. Clinical: Evaluation of site specific treatment of atherosclerotic lesions using new drug delivery catheters and platelet/thrombin inhibitors. The initial studies are performed in a double injury pig coronary.

Clinical studies are under way for treatment of human atherosclerotic lesions.

Unique Technical and Clinical Research Capabilities/Instrumentation:

In vitro cultures of human atheromatous cells from primary and restnotic lesions. GLP certified laboratory for evaluation of atherosclerotic pig and rabbit models as well as dog abdominal aneurysm model. Capable of evaluating intravascular structures with ultrasound, plan and angioscopy.
