Research Interests:
Study of the basic mechanisms of collateral artery formation in the presence and absence of diabetes. Using a rabbit and mouse hind-limb ischemia model, we can quantitate the number of collateral arteries using arteriography and hemodynamic changes using fluorescent microspheres to measure regional blood flow. Currently we are interested in the role of inflammatory cells in the regulation of collateral artery formation.

Unique Technical and Clinical Research Capabilities/Instrumentation:
Tissue culture, rabbit and mouse model of hind-limb ischemia, quantitation of perfusion using fluorescent microspheres, arteriography, histology.
