New Physician Order Entry System
You have heard about it, now where is it! As with all huge investments by the managers of the UHS, this is no exception. While it looks as though it will actually happen, it may take many months! The investment is 7.5 million but the Board of Manager's are behind the move towards a more efficient and cost effective way of managing patients. We will keep you updated as things progress ...
Next in our Seminar Series: Insurance needs for Physicians
Thursday May 23rd at 6:30pm at a restaurant close to the medical center. The evening event will include wine and cheese followed dinner and a presentation about the insurance needs of physicians. The evening is being sponsored by Bret Davenport of the New York Life Company. Please RSVP to housestaff@uthscsa.edu by May 21st.
House Staff Council Monthly Meetings:
Second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM in the New Physicians Lounge or the Foundation Room Look for announcements each month via page, flyers, and PA announcements. Please come and give your input! Everyone is welcome.
New Resident's Lounge - The Joe E. Eisenberg Physician's Lounge
Have you seen it? It belongs to you! Please come by any time day or night to take a respite, use the computers, watch TV, listen to music, have a cup of coffee or simply sit around and do nothing. This fantastic lounge was a gift to the physicians from the University Hospital Foundation. The lounge is on the 7th floor next to the "B" elevator foyer. The combination is 1050. The use of this room is limited to physicians ONLY. We should all treat this room with care as it belongs to us. Please come by and enjoy, and greatest thanks to the Foundation.
Orientation Event for Incoming Residents
We are in the process of organizing the orientation event for the incoming class. In passed years, the event has been a luncheon followed by a day at Fiesta Texas. This year we are thinking about changing the venue to a local park where we can keep the group engaged in activities for the afternoon. Please let us know by e-mail if you wish to help as part of the orientation committee.

We need your E-mail address!
In an effort to bring the Residents of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio in to the communication modes of the 20th century we are requesting e-mail addresses from all residents. This will facilitate more efficient communication between the House Staff Council and residents. As your representatives, we would like to know your concerns and thoughts on improvements and problems as they arise. Also, we would like to send relevant information as it occurs.
