Step One: Know your Residency Coordinator and his/her needs

Your program coordinator is your ADMINISTRATIVE CONTACT to your residency program. Your program coordinator will have program-specific requests for you. At this time, please send a copy of your final diploma to your contact. He/she may require additional items from you.

 

Step Two: Schedule a Health Screening at the University Hospital Clinic

In order for residents to start training on July 1st, all residents are required to complete a health screening at the University Hospital Employee Health Clinic located on the 3rd floor.

Incoming residents will need to bring documentation of the following:

  1. Tetanus/diphtheria or TDAP immunization within the past 10 years
  2. 2 doses of the MMR vaccine or proof of immunity to measles (rubeola) and rubella
  3. A current PPD (within the past 3 months of start date). If you have had a positive PPD, youwill need to provide a copy of a chest X ray report taken after the PPD was positive.
  4. Completion of the Hepatitis B series and a Hepatitis B titer done after completion of the series.
  5. A dose of the Varicella immunization or titer stating immunity or verbalization of having chicken pox as a child.

The clinic will also administer a color blind test and a mask fitting test. It is imperative residents complete the health screening prior to administrative processing. The number to the clinic is 210-358-2277.

Step Four: Obtain your Physician in Training Permit

You will be contacted by your Residency Coordinator when he/she has obtained your ID number to access the TMB website so that you can apply for your training permit. When you have your ID number, please access the TMB website here:
