Faculty Development
Hispanic Faculty Association
MHCOE
established the Hispanic Faculty Association in 1996. The purpose
of HFA is to assist MHCOE in the recruitment and retention of Hispanic
faculty into our medical school. The center has developed
activities like mentorship matching, faculty funding resource program,
and individual career counseling.
The MHCOE has expanded its membership to residents. The MHCOE will match graduate student/resident members who are interested in academic careers with a HFA faculty mentor. See Resident Mentorship Program The HFA will coordinate the opening and closing ceremonies of the UTHSCSA Hispanic Heritage Week. One ceremony will be dedicated to recognizing outstanding Hispanic Faculty. Annually one faculty will receive a Hispanic Faculty Excellence Award. The week long scientific poster session will showcase outstanding Hispanic Faculty research. A Hispanic faculty will be selected to receive the Outstanding poster presentation award at the Hispanic Heritage Week closing ceremony. The HFA will host a scientific poster session symposium where MHCOE Summer Research students will formally present their research activities. . . . .
