The goal of the Spanish Speaking-only Patient Rotation is to provide medical students with a clinical experience in a predominately Hispanic Community Health Clinic that will expose them to culturally sensitive health and patient education to this population. The students interested in taking this course should be proficient in conversational Spanish.

The objectives of the Spanish Speaking-only Patient Rotation are to:

  1. Provide students with a clinical experience of Community Health Clinic.
  2. Provide students an opportunity to develop a patient education session.
  3. Provide students an opportunity to work with only Spanish speaking patients.
  4. Familiarize students with Healthy People 2010 and the Presidents Hispanic Health Initiative.

Rotation Schedule

Students will spend 40 hours per week in rotation related activities.  These activities will include rotating through various clinics at the Barrio Comprehensive Family Health Care Center located on 1102 Barclay.

Students will initially meet with the Course Director and Rotation Coordinator to finalize their rotation schedule. If interested contact Dr. Jim Tysinger or Angie Adams in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at 210-567-4555.
