Virtual Women's Health Senior Didactic

Improving the health status of women, particularly minority women, is an interdisciplinary endeavor. The goal of this course is to enable fourth year medical students to completely present and discuss the basic history and physical examination of women patients and to review the medical literature regarding the following women's health topics: Ethics, Bone Health, Obesity and Physical Activity, Gestational Diabetes, Cardiovascular Health, STDs and HIV/AIDS, Adolescent Health, HPV, Domestic Violence, and the Gender Sensitive History and Physical Exam.

Course Goals:

  1. Spark and foster an interest in the special health care needs of women and girls.
  2. Build a foundation to prepare students to encounter women's health issues seen in PGY1 and beyond
  3. Better performance of Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics' Competencies for Medical Students
  4. Create a more gender sensitive health care system
