Disciplinary Guidelines for HIPAA Violations
When protected health information is improperly accessed, used or released, an individual may be disciplined based on the individual's classification. The specific discipline administered will depend on the nature and severity of the violation. Action will be initiated by the appropriate School or operational area in accordance with the classification of an individual (i.e., classified, credentialed faculty, student, etc.) and if necessary, the requirements of the individual's licensing Boards.
