OHR 2008-011 - Performance Review For Classified and A&P Employees

Supervisors and managers will be completing performance reviews for their employees between January 1 and February 29, 2008. The review period covers Calendar Year 2007 (January 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007). If you are a non-probationary Classified or Administrative & Professional (A&P) employee, you should receive your evaluation during this time frame. These reviews are required both by the UT System Board of Regents and our own Health Science Center policy.

The Performance Review Program is an essential tool for both employees and supervisors. For employees, the performance review documents the previous year’s job performance strengths and weaknesses. We find out what we do well and what we need to improve. For supervisors, it provides a way to give feedback to employees and encourage open communication. This Performance Review Process is a leadership technique that all supervisors and managers must use in the ongoing professional development of our employees.

Classified and Administrative and Professional (A&P) Employees

You should receive a performance evaluation so you will know how your job performance is viewed by your supervisors. Management should ensure that employees receive objective, unbiased performance reviews based on their job performance for the entire fiscal year.

Supervisors and Managers

Begin the performance evaluation process now by reviewing notes and other performance-related documentation. Performance review forms are available at http://www.uthscsa.edu/HR/forms.htm .  We ask that standard forms be used in all departments in order to ensure consistency in evaluating Administrative & Professional and non-probationary Classified employee performance. (Probationary employees are evaluated using a different process and form. Please see http://www.uthscsa.edu/hop2000/4.9.1.pdf for more information on evaluating probationary employees.)

Administrators and Office Managers

Please note that all evaluation ratings must be entered in HCM no later than Friday, March 14, 2008.  Instructions will be sent in January.

The Office of Human Resources offers classes on the Performance Review Program. We recommend that all supervisors and managers attend one of these classes annually. Classes are scheduled for: Wednesday, January 9, 2008, and Wednesday, January 16, 2008.  To register, please contact Maria Campirano at 567-2320 or Campirano@uthscsa.edu.
