Headline News: Regents approve new oral health care center

The University of Texas System Board of Regents has authorized a $95 million oral health care center at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. Headline News: Study: Urine test may predict high-risk prostate cancer

Initial results of a multicenter study involving the UT Health Science Center San Antonio show that two urine-based biomarkers are associated with prostate cancers likely to be aggressive and potentially life-threatening. The biomarkers could lead to a urine test for prostate cancer. Headline News: More South Texas kidney cancer patients have diabetes

Diabetes is believed to be a contributing factor to several types of cancer, and new research in San Antonio patients reveals an association with kidney cancer. The analysis of data from the records of 473 patients who underwent surgery for renal cell carcinomas found that 25 percent had a history of diabetes. The lead researcher on the study is Samy L.
