Breast cancer: assessing your risk and learning the latest treatments

SAN ANTONIO (October 9, 2012) – The latest information in breast cancer treatment and prevention, including ways to gauge cancer risk by analyzing family and genetic history, will be available to the public in a free lecture with a question-and-answer period starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Speakers on this “pink ribbon panel” include;

Peter Ravdin, M.D., Ph.D., director of the CTRC’s breast health clinic

Ismail Jatoi, M.D., CTRC surgical oncologist

Kenneth Kist, M.D., CTRC radiologist

Martha Thomas, CGC, CTRC genetic counselor

The Oct. 11 presentation will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the CTRC, 7979 Wurzbach Road, on the fourth floor of the Grossman Building.

This presentation will also be streamed live online at www.CTRC.net/LIVE. The lecture is also sponsored by H-E-B and the Institute for the Integration of Medicine and Science at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio.
