Dr. Garza participates in Forbes Healthcare Summit
Jaime R. Garza M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S., a faculty member of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and local physician, was one of only three from Texas invited to participate in the “Forbes Healthcare Summit, Healthcare in the USA: Prescription for Change.” Dr. Garza is a clinical professor of surgery and otolaryngology and assistant dean of South Texas Community Affairs in the School of Medicine. He joined industry specialists from around the globe to discuss positive and effective ways to transform the health care system, particularly as it relates to increased affordability and access to care. Additionally, summit attendees worked to highlight new financial models that encourage innovation in health care and drive economic growth. Non-partisan solutions to health care issues “I was honored to participate in this one-of-a-kind summit, which brought together key stakeholders spanning the entire health care spectrum,” Dr. Garza said. “Doctors, government officials, leading executives from pharmaceutical and insurance companies, leaders of top health care networks and medical centers joined together to discuss non-partisan solutions to affect transformational change in our health care delivery system.”
One of three from Texas This inaugural summit was an invitation-only event. Joining Dr. Garza from Texas was Gov. Rick Perry and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Professor Donald Berry, Ph.D. Dr. Garza was selected to join the distinguished industry leaders for his work in establishing collaborative clinical-research trials utilizing adult regenerative cells for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the human knee, and for his contributions of the transformative ideas for the education and training of the future health care workforce. Forbes Media Chair and Editor-in-Chief Steve Forbes hosted and led the discussion held in New York City, Dec. 4-5.
