Rugh appointed to NIH panel on dental research (8/14/95)

John Rugh, PhD, director of research for the Dental School of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been appointed to a four-year term on the National Institute of Health's National Advisory Dental Research Council.

The appointment was made by Donna Shalala, secretary of health and human services.

The advisory council makes recommendations to the director of the National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR), Harold Slavkin, and to Secretary Shalala on matters related to the overall mission of NIDR, research funding and policies.

The council reviews and makes recommendations on both the NIDR's extramural and intramural research programs.

Dr. Rugh, also a professor of orthodontics at the Dental School, has been on the faculty since 1977.
