The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) recognized four Health Science Center students at the Colleagues Luncheon at the 2004 session meeting in Anaheim, Calif. in May.
The association has partnered with Dentsply International to recognize student’s excellence in research. The award categories were for oral research presentations, poster research presentations or table clinics.
Asma A. Kahn, B.D.S., Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow in the department of endodontics, received second place for her graduate student oral research presentation “Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha Enhances the Expression of TRPV1 mRNA in Rat Trigeminal Neurons.”
Matthew B. Tonioli, D.D.S., second-year teaching assistant in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, received sixth place for his graduate student oral research abstract “Effect of Meurotrophic Factors on Bradykinn Receptor Expression in Rat Trimgeminal Sensory Neurons Determined by Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction.”
Tushar B. Patel, D.D.S., M.S., second-year teaching assistant in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, received ninth place for his graduate student oral research abstract “Characterization of Bradykinn Receptor-Expressing Neurons in Rat Trigeminal Ganglia.”
Jeffrey T. Shell, D.D.S., second-year teaching assistant in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, received third place for his graduate student poster clinic “Lidocaine Evokes Release of Immunoreactive Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide in Rat Pulp.”
