Hispanic Center of Excellence attracts international visitors Martha Medrano, M.D., M.P.H., assistant dean for continuing medical education and director of the School of Medicine’s Hispanic Center of Excellence at the Health Science center, (third from left) gave a tour of the Hispanic Center of Excellence to international visitors (L-R) Elsie Magdaline Alexander, lecturer from the University of Botswana; Maha Mohamed Ghaleb, from the Ministry of Social and Works Affairs in Yemen; and Sartah A.C. Dempster, finance officer and administrator of the Liberian Women Initiative in Liberia. The women were visiting the Health Science Center as part of the Women and Economic Development program. The program highlighted the contributions of women to the economic development of the United States economy and explored the progress of women in overcoming gender bias to participate more fully in the world economy.
