The university police department reminds employees that parking permits not purchased through the payroll deduction plan must be renewed by Aug. 31.
Employees wanting to renew their parking permits must fill out a parking permit registration form. Temporary parking permits may be picked up at any entry control station to display while hang tags are brought to the parking service office for renewal.
Forms and instructions can be found on the university police Web site at
www.uthscsa.edu/utpolice/index.htm. Forms and instructions are also available at all entry control stations and in the shuttle bus schedule distribution boxes located throughout campus.
Employees may also mail their registration forms to the UTHSC parking service office, university police — mail code #7953, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78229-3900, or drop them off at the parking service office, next to the bookstore, during regular business hours.
Those who choose to use the payroll deduction option for the first time must complete a payroll deduction agreement form. Permit holders may renew their current parking permits at their leisure through Aug. 31, 2004. A renewal will extend the expiration of a permit to Aug. 31, 2005. An early renewal will not entail any added expense, and employees will avoid the possibility of having to stand in long lines with permit holders who choose to wait until mid-August to renew.
During the renewal period, permit holders have the option to downgrade their parking assignment or cancel their parking privilege. Upgrading to a reserved space or a closer parking area will be based on the waiting list and the availability of preferred spaces. Persons changing or canceling their parking status at any time other than the renewal period will be charged a $5 administrative fee.
New, first-year students will be registered at their initial student registration. The parking permits provided to those students will include the remainder of this permit year, plus the full one-year permit period. The fees for the selected parking option will be prorated to cover the extended period.
Those with unpaid campus parking or traffic citations will not be allowed to renew a parking permit. Permits obtained on the payroll deduction plan also will not be renewed if the holder has unpaid campus citations as of 5 p.m. Aug. 31. Permits belonging to those with unpaid citations will be canceled on Sept. 1. A canceled permit voids that permit holder’s parking assignment, making that space available to someone on the parking space waiting list.
