Assistant professor receives ASCO Young Investigator Award

Muralidhar Beeram, M.D., M.B.B.S., assistant professor in medical oncology, has received the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator award.

This grant provides funding to physicians who are in the final year of a fellowship program or in the first year of post-fellowship work. The ASCO grant supports oncologists who are in transition from training and encourages them to pursue career paths toward clinical academic oncology.

Dr. Beeram graduated from the Health Science Center’s hematology-medical oncology fellowship program in July 2003.

Dr. Beeram earned a bachelor of medicine and surgery, M.B.B.S., degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He did his undergraduate pre-medical courses at Loyola College in Vijayawada, India. He completed his rotating clinical internship at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad and his junior residency in radiation oncology at Medwin Hospital in Hyderabad. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. and an advanced fellowship in anticancer drug development at the Institute for Drug Development at Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio.
