Researchers performing clinical studies are invited to submit information about their studies to the university’s new Web site that allows the public to search for ongoing clinical studies at the Health Science Center.

The site, sponsored by the Executive Research Committee, will go public Sept. 15. Brief descriptions of the studies are needed to populate the Web site in anticipation of the release date. There is no charge.

“The site will help researchers conducting clinical studies find potential study participants, and let both physicians and the public communities view the nearly 2,000 studies under way in San Antonio,” said Brian Herman, Ph.D., chair of the Executive Research Committee.

Researchers may enter their information over the Web or on a printed form. Information and forms are at:
www.uthscsa.edu/research/investigatorsinfo.html.

“Researchers who are not currently recruiting participants may want to use the site at a later date when they will be seeking participants,” Dr. Herman said.

Web visitors may search for studies by disease, disorder or condition. They will then receive a list of studies fitting their keyword search. The list contains details about the studies, and the names and contact information for investigators. The site is at: studies.uthscsa.edu/

“Sponsors of medically-oriented Web sites will be invited to link to the site,” said Jim Barrett, webmaster. “A link from the university home page will be added in September.”

For more information or questions contact Barrett by sending him an e-mail at barrett@uthscsa.edu or Becky Holloway by sending her an e-mail at holloway@uthscsa.edu.
