This fall, faculty can arrange to have an Educational Research and Development staff member 'visit' their classroom, lab or clinic to observe their teaching interactions with students as part of the VISIT program, provided by Educational Research and Development (ERD).

Following the observation the faculty member and ERD consultant get together to review the observation notes and discuss methods to handle the inevitable rough spots that arise in any teaching situation.

As part of the VISIT program, faculty can also arrange to have their teaching videotaped, which provides a powerful mechanism for self-assessment.

The VISIT program is designed to support the personal development of faculty teaching skills and is not designed to serve as a mechanism for formal evaluation of an instructor’s skills. VISIT feedback provided to faculty is completely confidential. ERD staff turn over all observation notes to the faculty member requesting the visit.

For more information or to register for the VISIT program, call David L. Henzi, Ed.D., education development specialist, at (210) 567-2290 or send an email to henzi@uthscsa.edu.
