Clinical professor will assume RSNA presidency at annual meeting

David Hussey, M.D., clinical professor in the department of radiation oncology, will assume presidency of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) at the society’s 90th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in November in Chicago.

The RSNA is an association of more than 35,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists and related scientists committed to promoting excellence in radiology through education and by fostering research, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. The society hosts the largest medical meeting in the world each year, bringing nearly 60,000 people to its scientific assembly in Chicago.

Dr. Hussey is a past president of both the American Radium Society and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. Dr. Hussey’s career interests have focused on resident education, supply and demand for radiation oncologists, unconventional radiotherapy fractionation schedules, testicular and head and neck cancer, and fast neutron radiation therapy.

In addition, at the RSNA's meeting in November, three presentations from departments of the Health Science Center will also be made.

Sean Cavanaugh, M.D., will present "Gleason Sum, but Not Initial PSA, Predicts Disease Specific Mortality After Biochemical Failure in Prostate Cancer." Co-authors on this abstract include Martin Fuss, M.D.; Patrick A Kupelian, M.D.; and Chandana A. Reddy, M.S.

Dr. Fuss and Bill J. Salter, Ph.D., will present "Co-registration of Standalone Acquired CT and PET Image Data Using a Whole Body Immobilization Device."

Adrian Wong, third-year medical student, will present "Preliminary Clinical Analysis of Daily Ultrasound-based Image-guided Radiotherapy (US-IGRT) for the Treatment of Pancreatic Carcinoma along with Clifton D. Fuller, third-year medical student; Charles R. Thomas Jr., M.D., department of radiation oncology vice-chairman; and Drs. Salter and Fuss.
