11th annual Briggs Lecture is Sept. 30

The department of pharmacology is pleased to announce that the featured speaker for the 11th annual Arthur H. Briggs Lectureship will be Brian Kobilka, M.D., professor of molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford University.

Dr. Kobilka is a member of the American Federation for Clinical Research, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the American Society of Clinical Investigation. In 1994 he received the Syntex Prize in Receptor Pharmacology and the John Jacob Abel Award from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. In 1995 he received the Young Investigator Award from the Western Society for Clinical Investigation. He has co-authored many peer-reviewed articles and written several book chapters.

His lecture, “Adrenergic Regulation of Cardiovascular Function: Insights From Molecules and Mice” will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, in Room 3.102B in the School of Medicine.
