National Public Radio’s Talk of the Nation: Science Friday® show is coming to the Health Science Center this week. Science Friday® host Ira Flatow will interview guests live in the auditorium from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
The first hour will center on Texas archeology, while the second will shine the spotlight on children’s health issues. The show is free and open to the public with a reservation at 614-8977. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and members of the audience are asked to take their seats as soon after 12:30 as possible.
One of the scheduled guests in the second hour will be Autumn Dawn Galbreath, M.D., M.B.A., associate chair for clinical programs in the Health Science Center’s department of medicine. She will discuss the Health Science Center’s multimillion-dollar project to examine effectiveness of a disease management approach to improve prevention of asthma in children and adults.
Flatow anchors the show each Friday, bringing radio and Internet listeners worldwide a lively, informative discussion on science, technology, health, space and the environment. He is an award-winning TV journalist and veteran NPR science correspondent.
