Innovations in Medical Education conference is Oct. 21, 22The University of Texas System’s conference on Innovations in Medical Education is October 21 – 22 in the Commons Center on the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in Austin.
The focus of the conference is on undergraduate medical education, and topics will include curriculum design, interdisciplinary / interprofessional education, clinical skills assessment, development and support of faculty, humanism in the curriculum, information technology, the scholarship of education.
Conference speakers include Michael Whitcomb, M.D., senior vice president of the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Ruth Fincher, M.D., vice dean for academic affairs at the Medical College of Georgia.
There is no registration fee for the conference but attendees are responsible for travel arrangements and hotel accommodations. Blocks of rooms have been set aside at the state rate of $80 at the Embassy Suties – Austin Arboretum and the AmeriSuites – Austin Arboretum. Reservations at the Embassy Suites must be made by Sept. 29 and reservations at the AmeriSuites must be made by Oct. 7.

Brian K. Kobilka, M.D., professor of medicine and molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford University School of Medicine, will present “Conformational Dynamics of Beta 2 Adrenoceptor: The Effect of Ligand Structure on Receptor Structure” at 1:30 p.m. in Salon A. Additionally, slide presentations and two poster sessions will feature the current research of department graduate students, faculty members, post-doctoral students, and research assistants.
