Surgery Employee of the MonthThe Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the implementation of an Employee of the Month/Year Program. This program is designed to recognize an individual who demonstrates exceptional behaviors such as dependability, initiative, service beyond that required of current position, trust-worthiness, congeniality, and respect.
Recipients of the award will receive a $100 gift certificate to North Star Mall, will have their picture displayed for a month, and their name permanently displayed on a plaque outside the Surgery main office. Winners of the Employee of the Month Award for the academic year will be eligible for the Employee of the Year Award.
September’s Employee of the Month recipient is Janet McCarthy, research nurse II.
“Janet is extremely committed to every aspect of her mission as a research nurse. She works long hours in order to properly accomplish all that is required in her role as a research nurse that focuses on critical care and inpatient studies,” said Daniel Dent, M.D., associate professor in the department of Surgery. Dr. Dent nominated McCarthy for the award. “Her efficiency in her work and her success in negotiating appropriate research contracts has allowed our division to accumulate more than $100,000 in research accounts. With this money we are able to support resident, nursing, and faculty education and develop our own non-funded research projects.”
