The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is pleased to welcome Daniel Martinez, M.D., assistant professor, and Jorge Salazar, M.D., assistant professor and director of congenital cardiac surgery, to the division of thoracic surgery.

“Thoracic Surgery is excited to further enhance its surgical team with the addition of Drs. Daniel Martinez and Jorge Salazar,” said John H. Calhoon, M.D., the chief of thoracic surgery. “Both were carefully selected and recruited to join our group because of their interest in teaching, academic pursuit and their special expertise in congenital heart surgery.”

Dr. Martinez started at the Health Science Center in April 2004. Before coming to the Health Science Center he was an assistant professor of surgery at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in the division of cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Martinez is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Lousiana Surgical Society. Dr. Martinez earned his doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City.
