Report from the Institutional Committee on Committees- Dr. Keith Krolick in his role as Chair of the Institutional Committee on Committees informed the Senate that the system of institutional standing committees is healthy, and when used properly, allows the faculty numerous opportunities to have a voice in institutional affairs. A continuing goal of the COC will be to encourage greater communication between the various committees and the UTHSCSA community in order to provide greater awareness of committee activities, and therefore allow increased committee responsiveness to the needs of those who they represent. In addition, Dr. Krolick stressed the importance of enhancing communication and collaboration among the standing committees (as well as with key ad hoc committees) in order to insure thorough examination/action with regard to important institutional issues, while avoiding redundancies of committee efforts.
Faculty Advisory Council (FAC) Update- Dr. Krolick provided the Senate with brief summary of the October meeting of the Faculty Advisory Council (FAC), a UT System Committee made up of the Chairs and Chairs-Elect of Faculty Senates from all UT component campuses around the state. Dr. Barry Norling, Past Chair of our Faculty Senate, is currently Chair-Elect of the FAC.
