Members of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) may now request petitions to nominate candidates to a position on the TRS Board of Trustees for a six-year term. Petitions must be received by Jan. 15.
By March 15, the TRS will mail ballots and an edition of TRS News, with candidate information, to all TRS participants who are qualified to vote in the election. Ballots must be received by April 30. The names of the three candidates receiving the most votes will be submitted to the governor and he will then appoint one of these nominated candidates.
To place a candidate’s name on the higher education ballot, a nominating petition with 500 names, signatures and Social Security numbers of TRS members whose most recent credited service is, or was, performed for an institution of higher education, must be submitted.
To request a petition, call 1-800-223-8778, fax a request to (512) 542-6585, write the TRS at 1000 Red River, Austin TX 78701, or visit:
