The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the Employee of the Month for November and December. This program is designed to recognize an individual who demonstrates exceptional behaviors such as dependability, initiative, service beyond that required of current position, trust-worthiness, congeniality, and respect.

Recipients of the award will receive a $100 gift certificate to North Star Mall, will have their picture displayed for a month, and their name permanently displayed on a plaque outside the Surgery main office. Winners of the Employee of the Month Award for the academic year will be eligible for the Employee of the Year Award.

November’s Employee of the Month recipient is Darelle Hinson, specialist in poison information II.

“Her happy demeanor and positive attitude is refreshing to work with. She serves as a role model and has volunteered her services by going to schools on her off time and talking about what she does as a Specialist in Poison Information and about the South Texas Poison Center,” said Nanette Ramirez, administrative secretary. Ramirez nominated Hinson for the award.

December’s Employee of the Month recipient is Beth Nethken, administrative secretary.

“Beth is a long-term employee in the department who consistently goes above and beyond the call for fellow employees,” said LuAnn Kirk, administrative secretary, who nominated Nethken. “Usually when I ask her who is handling something, it turns out that she is doing it herself.”
