Adriana Segura, D.D.S., M.S. professor in the department of pediatric dentistry, has been accepted into the Leadership Texas Program.
The Leadership Texas Program is a statewide women's leadership program. Since 1983, Leadership Texas has been providing valuable education and training to Texas women leaders who seek to improve their leadership skills and expand their knowledge of the diverse issues, dynamics and cultures that impact the State of Texas. The Leadership Texas Program is a program of the Foundation for Women’s Resources.
Dr. Segura earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1986 and her doctorate from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1990. She has been a faculty member at the Health Science Center since 1999. Her research emphasis is on caries inhibition of restorative materials. Her work entails the evaluation of fluoridated materials in clinical studies. She is currently working on a clinical trial titled "Early Caries Detection and Intervention" in the pediatric population.
Dr. Segura is a member of numerous professional and scientific organizations, including: the American Association of Dental Research, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Society of Dentistry for Children. She is the past chair of the pediatric dentistry section for the American Dental Education Association and has served as the president for the San Antonio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2000-2001 and secretary/treasurer for the SAAPD in 1990-2000.
